Elizabeth Polling, Legal Intern

Elizabeth is currently in her 2nd year at California Western School of Law in San Diego. Prior to law school, she taught Biology and Earth and Environmental Science in North Carolina as a member of Teach For America. At Coastkeeper, she is working on the long term impacts of land use choices on water quality. Elizabeth received her undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and Philosophy from Vanderbilt University.

 

Katherine Williams, Legal Intern

Katherine just finished her second year at Boston University School of Law, where she is focusing on environmental and business law. Katherine graduated cum laude from the University of San Diego in 2001 with a degree in Political Science and minors in business administration and history. Prior to attending law school, Katherine taught World History at Villanova Prep School in Ojai, CA where she also served as a student advisor and spearheaded a recycling program. Katherine has interned with the City of San Diego, Environmental Services Department and Massachusetts Housing Financing Agency. At Coastkeeper she hopes to expand her knowledge of California’s environmental and administrative laws and research the relationship between development and environmental preservation.

 

Catherine Ogden, Legal Intern

Catherine is a second-year student at the University of Denver College of Law, where she is focusing on environmental law and is a member of the Natural Resource Environmental Law Society. She graduated from the University of San Diego in May of 2005 with a B.B.A. in Business Administration and a minor in Environmental Studies. At Coastkeeper, she is pursuing her interests in issues including a proposed desalination plant and various water quality issues. Catherine is currently working on projects involving the Encina Power Station and the San Diego Basin Plan.

 

Livia Borak, Legal Intern

Livia Borak is currently in her third year at University of San Diego Law School where she is focusing on environmental law. She has a degree in biochemistry from University of California San Diego and worked in biotech for four years. At Coastkeeper, Livia is currently working on water quality issues.

 

Jeremiah Ross, Legal Intern

Jeremiah has just completed his second year of Law School at California Western School of Law in San Diego. After serving four years in the Marine Corps, he attended the University of Oregon where he graduated with a B.S. in Political Science. During his summer breaks Jeremiah fought forest fires for the Oregon Department of Forestry. Last summer in Seattle, WA, he volunteered for the Surfrider Foundation while working as a deckhand on vessels in the Puget Sound. This summer at Coastkeeper, Jeremiah is working on various Clean Water Act issues.

 

Michelle Black, Legal Intern

Michelle has just finished her first year at UCLA School of Law, where she plans to focus on environmental law and land use issues. In college, Michelle spent a semester in Costa Rica with the Organization for Tropical Studies, where she studied tropical biology and development issues in the tropics. At UCLA, Michelle is a staff member of the Journal of Environmental Law and Policy as well as a member of the Environmental Law Society. At Coastkeeper, Michelle is currently working on development issues in the Tijuana River Valley and indulging her interests in water quality and land use issues. She graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2004 with a Biology-Government degree.
