SAN DIEGO, June 9, 2010- San Diego Coastkeeper, San Diego’s largest professional environmental organization working to protect inland and coastal waters, announces three new board of directors: Susie Armstrong, senior vice president of engineering at Qualcomm Incorporated; Nicole Capretz, campaign director for Environmental Health Coalition; and Megan Lim, development director at the San Diego Public Library Foundation.
We are pleased that these accomplished individuals are joining our team and bringing to our organization such diverse backgrounds,” said David Field, president of Coastkeeper’s board of directors and president/CEO of OneRoof Energy. “As San Diego Coastkeeper grows to tackle the region’s water issues, it’s important our board of directors represents a wide variety of community interests.”
Armstrong, who joined Qualcomm in 1994, heads the worldwide organization that integrates Qualcomm products into customer phones and devices, bringing them to market as quickly as possible. A passionate hiker and paddler, Coastkeeper is the first nonprofit board on which Armstrong has served.
Capretz brings to Coastkeeper’s board more than 15 years of experience in environmental law and policy. Before joining Environmental Health Coalition to run the Green Energy/Good Jobs campaign, she ran Councilmember Donna Frye’s first successful campaign for city council, served as her environmental policy advisor and then managed Frye’s write-in campaign for mayor. Capretz started her environmental policy work with Ralph Nader in Washington, D.C, and has previously served on the Coastkeeper board.
Lim joins San Diego Coastkeeper’s board of directors with an extensive career in nonprofit fundraising. Recently selected as one of San Diego News Network’s “35 under 35 San Diego Community Leaders,” Lim is currently the development director for the San Diego Public Library Foundation. Previously, she was the capital campaign manager for Girls Scouts, San Diego-Imperial Council and a development associate and environmental analyst for Save the Harbor/Save the Bay in Boston, Mass.
