Former Executive Director Rejoins Local Water Quality Organization as a Board of Directors Volunteer

  • Los Angeles Waterkeeper Executive Director Bruce Reznik to strengthen ties on work that extends beyond San Diego County lines
  • Longtime water advocate to attend San Diego Coastkeeper’s Seaside Soiree on September 13

SAN DIEGO, September 11, 2017 –San Diego Coastkeeper announces the addition of BruceReznik, executive director of Los Angeles Waterkeeper and former executive director of San Diego Coastkeeper, to its board of directors. Reznik brings extensive policy and legal advocacy experience to the organization that he once directed and grew into the region’s most effective voice for clean water.

“It is an honor to rejoin the San Diego Coastkeeper family; this time in a board of directors role,” says Reznik. “Coastkeeper remains the region’s most effective advocate for its waters, and I look forward to doing everything I can to help ensure all San Diegans have access to healthy rivers, creeks and coastal waters.”

According to San Diego Coastkeeper, in the face of increasing pressures and threats from federal rollbacks and budget cuts to environmental protection, Reznik’s expertise on policy advocacy and strategic action and his long ties with statewide and national Waterkeeper organizations will strengthen its effectiveness.

While serving as executive director of San Diego Coastkeeper, Reznik helped to dramatically reduce sewage spills, polluted runoff, and industrial pollution of San Diego County’s waters and educated and engaged tens of thousands of San Diegans in clean water efforts. Under his direction, Coastkeeper helped shape the political debate throughout San Diego to ensure clean water became a top priority for the region.

Reznik will attend the organization’s annual fundraiser, the Seaside Soiree on September 13. A regular attendee at this event since its inception, Reznik says this is a key chance for locals to take action where impacts are made and support a local organization that mobilizes to protect the region’s way of life.

A California-licensed attorney, Reznik holds an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and his law degree from the University of San Diego.  Reznik has served as an alternate on the California Coastal Commission, and has sat on numerous local, state and national boards and commissions, including the international Waterkeeper Alliance for six years.
