Spencer joined San Diego Coastkeeper in August 2024 as the organization’s communications manager.
Raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Spencer grew up on, around, and under the water by sailing, surfing, and freediving on a near-daily basis. His upbringing laid the foundation for a profound love and concern for marine habitats and the environment at large. Following his graduation from the University of Florida—and a couple years in the marine industry—Spencer worked as a marketing strategist for ad agencies, ambitious startups, and global tech companies across numerous industries. After more than a decade, he finally aligned his profession with his values and began pivoting his career toward environmental sustainability. There’s simply no looking back now, and he’s thrilled to make his living helping to protect the San Diego waters he now calls home.
Outside of the office, you can find Spencer surfing, rock climbing, and camping his way up and down the California coastline.
